Travis Scott has had four #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, along with a total of 100 charting songs.
He has had ten Grammy award nominations and has won a Latin Grammy award, a Billboard Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and several BET Hip Hop Awards.
He says his name was derived from Kid Cudi’s real name: Scott Mescudi, combined with his favorite uncle’s name.
Scott signed with Epic Records in 2012 - his first deal. He, also, signed a publishing deal with G.O.O.D. Music - Kanye West’s label.
In 2013, Travis signed with T.I.’s label, Grand Hustle Records.
Now, “90210” was one of my favorites from the Rodeo (2015) album. The actual audio version is filled with verbiage from female singers and actresses. Very interesting.
In between Astro World (2018) and Utopia (2023), Travis released “Franchise”. So, let me bring you up to the future. (by the way, Travis started his new label, Cactus Jack, in 2017)
Now, “Franchise” (2020) was originally titled “White Tee”. MIA makes an appearance toward the end of the track (and Young Thug makes an appearance, as well).
So, making or owning a record label can be compared to running a fast food restaurant or a sports car dealership. You need a product that sells; only, in the music business you have to assimilate as well as create something new. You can be one of the sheep, or something no one has thought of, or seen. Hence, we get “Franchise”, the new product - which, in the video, describes what it’s like to run a business.
Being on top is a lot like “Highest In the Room” - which was from the Jackboy’s release in 2019. Through Cactus Jack and Epic Records.
Behind the scene you’re some guy, but when your sneaker falls from eighty flights, people need to know what your next album is like. You know, what’s going on up there, and how do we treat you among lower levels?
After watching “Highest In the Room” you might get a better idea of how Travis feels lurking on higher levels no one gets to see from down below.
Obviously, I’ll drop three forms of media.
The “90210” thing is interesting and shows you where Travis was when he first started, really, selling tracks and albums. From there, I’ll provide “Franchise” - then “Highest In the Room”.
