Man! I used to smoke weed with a friend who would bring friends over each other day. A new group of friends would show up; creating a different vibe every other day.
One day, my friend (John) brought over a couple Black dudes and one Caucasian guy. The guy said, “we have to check out The Underachievers.” Under - who? Who are these guys? I said, “you mean Future or Drake?” No! “I mean The Underachievers,” he said.
O.K., I am now an Underachiever fan on this day and time. Why? Well, “Gold Soul Theory” was dope. A good single and a great video - but there’s more to this video. Man! You have to see this other video filmed in Las Vegas. It’s “Chasing Faith Rain Dance Allusions”. They coalesce into three singles in one video that takes you on a trip. “An LSD trip,” you might ask?
Well, you might feel like you’re tripp’n, toward the end of this video.
It starts out in the desert on “Chasing Faith” Then, our two masters of ceremony jump into a pink Cadillac, or something. I’m not familiar with autos from the 50’s and 60’s, but it was a clean ride.
A man and woman were driving, and the woman hands them, both, two pills. The video begins to trip and melt into a new experience. You might be tripp’n at the end of this video.
There’s so much more to this hip hop group - and sadly, they had broken up for a few.
“Play That Way” might have been the last single & video, before the split. A good video. AK The Saviour grew his dreads to his shoulders and Issa Gold began growing his. Something happened because they broke up and began solo projects after that video - or around this time and period.
“Medulla” came out by AK The Saviour - and he seemed angry. A cutie (female) was seen with clippers shaving AK’s medulla (the back of his head). He had cut his dreads off, crying “keep that ass holy, naww I ain’t f**king playing”.
Something went wrong and both split.
So, I’ll provide you with “Chasing Faith Rain Dance Allusions”. Then, I’ll give you “Play That Way”. We’ll check out “Medulla”, and last, I’ll give you the album, Conversations With A Butterfly by Issa Gold.
If you want me to include “Gold Soul Theory”, hit me up - I’ll put it right in - or let me know how you feel about this line up.
