Kendrick Lamar

O.K. I’m not going to talk about that sandwich. The sandwich people talk about between Drake and Kendrick.

There is beef between those two pieces of bread, but back in the day - when people knew Kendrick as K-Dot - life was a struggle.

Kendrick paid his dues and came up harder and harder with each new album. I’m talking Section 80 (2011), Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City (2012), and To Pimp A Butterfly (2015). During the period within these three albums, Kendrick worked with Drake on Take Care and opened for him on tour. Back then, there was no sandwich - just peace, harmony, and love.

Now “ADHD” came to mind when listening to Section 80. Kendrick had a video that seemed more interesting than the actual ailment of ADHD.

It starts off with Kendrick and a few friends riding BMX bikes down an avenue that looked like New York City. It could have been LA, but regardless, Kendrick rides up to a Caucasian guy and, well, the next scene was Kendrick and friends in an empty office suite. “What are they doing there,” I asked myself? Dressed in t-shirts, they proceeded to introduce themselves to a few females - dressed casually. One female propped herself at an empty desk and began to type her fingers against an invisible typewriter or computer. Kendrick smiled, then laughed when the female placed him on hold - while taking another (invisible) call (on an invisible phone).

Eventually, the video came to an end when one of Kendrick’s friends walked into the office wearing an Obama Halloween mask. Everyone seemed happy, and the video came to an end.

Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City was interesting - and the first song “Sherane A.K.A. Master Splinter’s Daughter” was really good.

I noticed “Good Kid” and “M.A.A.D. City” were my 2nd and 3rd favorites - but! To Pimp A Butterfly featured dope track after track. Everyone I know, who heard this album, said the whole thing was off the chain.

I’m going to drop “Alright” as the second video you’ll, probably, want to see. (1st video will be “A.D.H.D.”).

There’s a concert I really liked from Kendrick. It featured songs from all three albums. I’ll drop 720p @Austin City Limits. You might have seen this one, but, um, let’s watch it, again.
